The text of "The Organization of Constantinople," in its current form, is the result of recording the memories of Athanasios Souliotis-Nikolaidis, approximately 30 years after the events it discusses.
The recording and selection from the author's notes were made by his wife, Sophia Soulioti, following his instructions. Thus, some thoughts expressed by the author have undergone the process of time and should not be considered contemporary evaluations of the events.
The author, as the researcher of his manuscripts will discover, preferred to omit the sharper observations regarding people and situations from the text meant for publication. Sophia Soulioti was the diligent and faithful executor of his will, and thanks to her efforts, almost all of his works have come to light.
Our thanks primarily go to her, as well as to the administration and staff of the Gennadius Library where the archive has been deposited. We also express our gratitude to the wise teacher, Mr. K.T. Dimaras, whose information made it possible for us to locate the archive.
