I use this product quite often. However, I don't remember seeing anything about strengthening when I bought it. I haven't noticed any difference in that regard. I bought it for styling purposes and for that, it is definitely good. It leaves a nice feeling, creates a good wet look, and gives a nice soft matte finish. The scent is very common because this product is essentially a salt spray, but personally, it doesn't bother me. If someone is looking for the scent, they should definitely check out Bluebeards Revenge, which does a similar job (with a different finish).
