The Greek section of the European Movement, the Greek Committee for the European Union, convened the National Conference on February 9 and 10, 1996, under the theme "Greece in the European Union. A review of the first fifteen years - prospects." By taking this initiative, the European Movement did not simply want to emphasize the political significance of participating in the European Union and contribute to the scientific discussion - it had set as its goal from the beginning the publication of this volume for the wider information of the Greek people.

This volume includes the edited texts of the presentations, following the publication of the proceedings of the Conference in a limited number of copies, with the presentations in initial form and the discussions that took place at the two round tables.
