The tumultuous and vibrant atmosphere that transforms daily life and excites Vygata resembles a festival or amusement park. The city is hosting the filming of a series for Swedish television. To change the urban landscape and make the buildings resemble those of the 1950s, the technicians gathered information and footage from amateur films shot in various locations around the city.
The cinematic disguise even involves the police department, risking ridicule due to a sign that presents it as a "Dance Hall." Through dusty folders, six dated films emerge during the search for old footage capturing that era, which obsessively document the dull whiteness of a wall at the same time, on the same day, and every month for six years.
Montalbano is called upon to read the plot in that empty, white frame, a detective novel that appears and disappears: painfully introspective and enigmatic, perhaps unbearable. The parallel investigation related to an episode of bullying, which mysteriously intertwines with an armed invasion of a school, progresses hesitantly in a different manner.
Montalbano is forced to confront the bright and intelligent minds of teenagers who only communicate through Skype, who, with their liveliness and impulsiveness, like young Argonauts, trust their fragile tenderness to the adventure of the internet.
