The emergence and gradual establishment of the new European economic governance, as a result of the crisis, raises serious political as well as constitutional issues, as the restrictions on the exercise of national fiscal and economic policy transform the meaning of the Constitution and national constitutionalism.
Against the challenges posed by the new regulatory and institutional framework, national constitutionalism experiences alterations and aligns itself with the trends that are being shaped at the European level. The new European economic governance constitutes a dynamic – and in many respects incomplete – process, which cannot yet be fully assessed.
However, it has already become evident that the interaction and interdependence between national constitutional order and European one are being established under new terms, as demonstrated by the example of our country, where its imprint is apparent and likely indelible.
