The modern world owes a great deal to the Greeks. They were the first to define the categories of thought that we have today. We owe them our main intellectual tools as well as the principles of our ethics.

Moreover, the teachings of Christianity, which still inspire Western civilization, reached us after passing through Greek thought, which processed and systematized the principles of Christianity.

In the common heritage that our thinkers and artists have cultivated over fifteen centuries with different outcomes, no one disputes the primary role that Hellenism has played.

Our contemporaries feel great interest in a people to whose culture we owe so much. This interest can be fully satisfied, as the sources that reveal ancient Greece to us are particularly rich and varied.
