Description

Every home has its story. As old as it is, it transforms from a simple building into a unique entity - a witness to all that has taken place within it. Fortunate is the home that has been loved and cared for by its inhabitants: it has some hope of ultimately belonging to eternity.

In the Greek and mainly Athenian reality, the home has suffered greatly. From a beloved place of residence (like the courtyard homes that have been so praised) or simply significant for some objective reason (the creations with renowned architecture), homes have turned from one moment to the next into sources of wealth and, quite simply, have been abolished, demolished, and replaced with others, mostly indifferent ones. This creates a great sense of nostalgia nowadays, even if it is, from one perspective, the healthy - in the sense of not clinging to the past - evolution of residence and the city.

However, the preservation of what has been saved remains particularly important. And even more significant is when there are testimonies about the homes that have been preserved to this day, solely through the care of their respective owners. One of these is the small two-story building at Patission 41, the home of the much-troubled center of Athens, the interesting yet delightful story of which, along with that of the family that lived there, is narrated in this book by the current owner, Evridiki Trison - Milsani.

The narrative comes to light at a time when the center of Athens, as well as its preserved buildings, are a daily topic of discussion, during this new phase the city is undergoing.
