Tasting characteristics: The Balvenie PortWood 21YO is created from fine malts that mature in barrels which previously housed port wine. The Malt Master oversees the distillates to incorporate the characteristics of the port barrels while maintaining its authentic character. It matures for at least 21 years in traditional oak casks and Port barrels, enhancing the complexity of the spirit. The result is a whisky with a full flavor and long finish. It has a fruity aroma with notes of raisin that combine with a dry walnut background. The taste is refined, creamy, and silky, with fruity, honeyed, and spicy notes. The aftertaste is prolonged with hints of walnut.
