The rapid advancement of linguistic science, which has primarily occurred over the last three decades, and the subsequent creation of various related interdisciplinary linguistic fields, have gradually led to the revelation of the immense significance and value of vocabulary, which, very recently, has begun to assume an equal position with grammar in the field of language teaching and instructional approaches.
However, the revelations and findings of modern linguistic science that have enabled us to delve deeper and gain a more comprehensive understanding of the vocabulary domain have naturally raised a new series of questions, mostly of educational and instructional nature, to which applied linguistics must provide well-founded and sufficient answers, in order to make the teaching intervention in the language lesson more modern and effective.
This study is precisely moving in this direction, with the authors attempting to examine the main issues posed, on both theoretical and practical levels, by the pedagogical handling of the vocabulary domain and seeking new ways for its meaningful integration and more efficient addressing within the scope of the language lesson.
