Unacceptable disk, it never worked. I tried to connect it to a desktop computer and a laptop and it is not recognized anywhere. I returned it to the company and their response was that the warranty does not cover it for a product that was defective from the start.

Surely, for anyone who wants to read about speeds, etc., there are better and more accurate reviews; I focus on the more practical aspect. It is a reliable portable drive for everyday use, with stable speeds and USB 3.2 with silent operation. The 4TB capacity is ideal for backup and large files, while the size remains truly portable. The build quality is good, but the plastic shell does not inspire much confidence in terms of drop resistance, so care is needed. The speeds are adequate for an HDD, but of course, they do not come close to an SSD. For storage and data transfer, it is a fair choice, as long as one does not expect high performance.

It has lasted me for how many years now, 2-3, with many recordings, 100-200 GB each time every so often, always running on the PC, I have no complaints

I got it in 2019-2020, 144 days and 12 hours on it. Strangely, it is still at 98% Health on Sentinel with 100% Performance. 3 Weak Sectors, and everything else is like new. Of course, HDDs are just a lottery, as I have had 2 HDDs (both WD to be exact) fail on me in less than a year.

I am grateful that it has lasted me until today (knock on wood), and it deserves my good rating.

-Performance: After at least 5 years of use, it's like new at ~280-320 MB/s. I don't know why you advertise at ~180, I double-checked to be sure, and I get these speeds myself.
-Noise: Nonexistent, even under heavy load I can't hear it (it's 1 meter away).
-Durability: It has fallen more than 3 times from about metro height, and it's still fine (while other HDDs would "commit seppuku" if you breathe on them weirdly)

The disk broke after less than a year of use and I will not buy a similar product again because I lost many files that I had stored there and needed. I did not expect this to happen in less than a year and I had not kept a backup.

After six months there was a small incident and as it was a hard drive standing upright, it fell down without any height. That is, it fell on the same level. 4.5 gigabytes of photos were lost. From now on, my opinion is that it is better to buy a small hard drive to avoid such damage. To fix it and just to see it, €250

Noticeably worse build quality compared to the previous series. It is used as a backup disk and four years later it has not shown any problems. When it filled up to about 90%, the write speeds dropped sharply, which, however, is probably due to NTFS and was fixed after defragmentation.

Very good price for a 1TB disk, I am quite satisfied, as well as with the pre-installed program that came from Western Digital, and I got a second one for backup.

I expected something better. Its build quality is inferior to its price and the WD name. It is surrounded by a light plastic. It connected quickly but I had to install Discovery from an external source. The truth is, with prices having gone up so much, I should have paid the small difference and gone for an SSD.

I have many disks from the same company, without having any problems in the past. This particular one had an issue from the beginning. From the first use it made noise and after a few uses it stopped working. I formatted it but since the noise continued, I stopped using it

With a simple drop, from the box where I had it resting, to the floor, it stopped working! It gets power, seems to work but Windows no longer recognizes it.

I bought it a second time as a gift for a relative. I already own one identical, a 1Tb and one at 4Tb. All work flawlessly and the write speeds are as expected for HDD and not SSD.

I have had it for a year and it works very well. It is quiet and very reliable. There is some issue with the code. To turn it off, and you have to put it back in to turn it on, it needs to be removed from the USB port, or there has to be a power outage. Other than that, everything is fine.

After 4 years, it suddenly left us and with it everything that was stored inside. It just stopped reading it. We're talking about a mechanical hard drive, being in 2025 I would suggest an SSD.

I got it due to a very good experience with WD external drives for decades. I use it as a backup on a Synology NAS in place of an older 2TB that worked flawlessly for 3 years. Based on this, I estimate that it will be equally reliable.

Because it is old technology, I only got it for backup computer. Nothing more. It does its job.

In a span of 10 months from the purchase, it stopped working, resulting in the loss of all my files. I used it a total of 3 times for backup. The most misguided purchase!!!!!

A piece of junk from WD after 2.2-5 years of occasional use gave up the ghost and I had to give it to a technician to recover 600GB of files that I most likely lost. Stay away if you are considering it.

I have 12 disks from the same company for years now, no problem. But as soon as I got 2 disks with 5TB, my iMac does not read them. They work properly only on Windows and I am trying to identify the problem!
Update: the problem was solved with a software upgrade on the iMac.

In the first week, it worked fine during the first disconnection I made, and when I reconnected it, my computer didn't recognize it, and eventually, I have to pay for a file recovery program. Stay away; I lost many files that I put on the hard drive and didn't back up.

After 3 years of occasional use, about 2-3 times a year for file storage and permanently stored in a drawer, one day it simply stopped being recognized by the computer. With various specialized online software that require payment, I can see its contents and maybe I can save some of them. Honestly, I expected more from WD and greater durability in relation to its price, as from what I see here, the same happens to many after a certain period of time.

The disk is terrible. It freezes and doesn't connect from the moment I got it. I use it at work and it has driven me crazy. Very bad purchase.

I haven't used it enough yet to have a more specific opinion.
It is a bit slow in data recording and sometimes makes a little noise.
It is easily readable from the computer, but it takes a while to open some files.
I believe it is worth its money.
I will come back for more impressions when I start using it more systematically.
