By reading the Kolokotronis memoirs, the reader gains access to numerous "details" that the official history systematically omits, such as: That in Lefkada (Santa Maura), just before the outbreak of the Revolution, a cowboy was seen wearing traditional attire (hat like John Wayne, boots with spurs, etc.).

That in 1824, when Lord Byron settled in Cephalonia as a "tourist," he followed precisely the traditional pedophilic program (as his biographer Benita Eisner writes) that the island "offered" to those who had the purse with the necessary coins; the well-known national hero Androutsos served as a guide to the romantic English poet.

That Ibrahim spread the rumor that Kolokotronis was worth no more than a pinch of tobacco and that Kolokotronis, for his part, invited him to fight (in a duel).

That Kapodistrias was not Greek, but an Hellenized Venetian aristocrat. That the aforementioned Kapodistrias considered settling Greece with Swiss peasants.

That the proverb "The wild came to drive away the tame" in Kolokotronis' memoirs is presented completely reversed, governed by the law of the wild and not the opposite: "the tame will not drive away the wild, everything leaves, the sparrow always remains." This means that from then (1821) until today, much has changed, even the meaning of proverbs...
