"A Different Journey into the Ancient Greek Being and Becoming" represents a journey into the depths of our Homeland's past. It begins from the prehistoric Greek times (3000 BC) and reaches until the end of the Hellenistic world (31 BC).
The Cycladic and Minoan civilizations created the glorious Mycenaean world, which is the foundation of classical Greece. In the southeastern Greek corner of Europe, all the elements that today constitute the cultural identity of the Western world were born. This corner of Europe came into conflict with Persia, the leader of the vast Asian cosmocracy. This conflict granted Ancient Greece its everlasting greatness.
The book discusses the socio-political developments by periods, the evolution of speech and art, and how they interact with each other. The hegemony in Greece was initially taken by the Athenians. Then, in order, it was held by the Spartans, Thebes, and finally the Macedonians.
Alexander the Great took Greece to the East, and since then Greece has never looked back. The entire Eastern world became Hellenized, and the Greek world was influenced by the East. Thus, the great Hellenistic world was created, which bestowed its imperial glory upon Rome, an imperium sine fine.
Whatever the Greeks achieved, they did so amid bloody conflicts and civil strife. Although it was the birthplace of measure and zero, it never adhered to them. A country stands firm in the present and looks to the future only if it knows its past.
Athens will never become New Rome. However, Athens can reclaim its spiritual glory as long as it desires to do so. Its crown is already there, the Parthenon, as long as it can rediscover its stature. This is the aim of the present work.
