Purchased today, March 16, 2022, for around 50€ for the 2TB model. When you get it, format it to NTFS or exFAT from Windows, or to HFS or exFAT from Mac. Windows does not offer an option to format to FAT32, but you can format it from Linux or with a special program in Windows to FAT32 so it is compatible everywhere, but this comes at the cost of handling small files. If it is intended only for Windows, NTFS is the best option.
-> I chose this one because of the reputable brand and its price.
-> The internal drive is by WD (SMR technology, not CMR) and does not have a SATA interface that goes into an adapter to output micro USB 3.0. Instead, the drive is directly micro USB 3.0, meaning the drive's board outputs micro-USB 3.0 and not SATA. This will make it difficult, if the port breaks, to open the case and connect it to another case or to the computer with regular SATA cables to save your data. This is a big downside for external drives, and I see it is common in newer external drives like Toshiba's. For now, it works just fine. Lightweight and practical construction, and you can always have it with you.
-> The cable is of average quality USB 3.0, I would have liked it a bit longer. Note, if you have it with you and don't have its cable, you can connect it with your phone's cable (if it is microUSB), but it will work slower because the phone cable supports USB 2.0 and not the 3.0 standard.

I have the 2TB version and for safety, the data is also stored on two 1TB drives for backup, because if it fails (since nothing is indestructible), I prefer to have half the data on each drive instead of all together on one big one, even if it costs more. All HDDs wear out easily over time because they have mechanical and magnetic parts, and we must keep backups because if valuable data is lost, it cannot be recovered.

I will also upload a screenshot from CrystalMark and its health status for the speeds it reaches at max with USB 3.0.

Good purchase, now time will tell how well it performs and I will review it again after some time, because only time will show how reliable it is.

As previous comments have mentioned (which unfortunately I didn't have the chance to read), the hard drive does not have a SATA output. It has a built-in USB controller and you cannot change the casing with another USB controller in case there is a problem and it is not recognized correctly or at all. The only option is to send it for replacement with your data inside, which if it is important and you have taken a backup, you simply don't do it and keep it as a reminder... From now on, I will make a separate purchase of the SATA hard drive and the casing, so we know where we are going...

The classic traditional hard drives are the most reliable for storage - archiving of files, data, programs. After the damage I suffered from an NVME drive, never again will I use such drives for backup. Only HDD.

The disk is relatively good, as is the value for money. Unfortunately, with power fluctuations it 'suffers', resulting in it breaking easily.

Unfortunately, these drives are designed to be replaced in case of any failure. Even if the USB fails, it is now a failure on the board which is integrated. You cannot simply remove it from the case and connect it to another SATA or USB device, nor to any computer

This review is about the capacity: 2000 GB

I bought it about 3 years ago for simple data storage (photos and videos from my phone) to back up memories. I used it very rarely as I was waiting for enough files to accumulate before copying them. After just 3-4 uses, I noticed that it was corrupting my videos, making them slow to open, causing the image to lag, and ultimately destroying them completely. I set it aside and used a much older ADATA drive I had. At some point, I decided to see if it would work again, and if not, to save the already copied files on it. The results were disastrous, and as I was copying my files to save them elsewhere, it shut down and never worked again. It should be noted that it was always stored according to its specifications, it had never fallen, nor had it suffered any other mishandling. It truly was NOT worth the 80 euros I paid for this drive, and I regret being swayed by the good reviews I had read and purchasing it. It was truly WASTED MONEY!!!!

I lost all my work..... all my files. The drive was fine one day and the next day it never opened again. And when I told someone I have a problem, they couldn't even recover my files where I took it, they replied, "Is it WD? Cry about it!!!". That's it...... unfortunately, I lost very important files out of nowhere

It is functional and fast, but when it stays idle for a long time and goes into power saving mode, it makes a loud click as if it doesn't have enough power from the USB. I have tested it from USB 2.0 to 3.2 and even in type C, this phenomenon is still observed.

The computer takes too long to recognize it, and the television doesn't even recognize it at all. When it manages to connect, file transfer is definitely not USB3 (50-60mb/s). Unfortunately, I also just realized that it's not SATA, so I can't simply put it in another enclosure. I only use it once a month for backup, and I wonder when it will fail me... Very bad purchase. It's just an SSD with a cheap casing, that's it.

I will not write about speeds, connectivity, etc. Many others have already written about them below.

I am writing a comment to point out the following: In case you want to open it, for example due to some damage, IT DOES NOT HAVE A SATA interface. So, this specific type of hard drive can only be read through USB, which is connected to SATA through a circuit. A big negative for me, maybe this is also why the price point is explained.

Personally, I have 5 WD elements (2*4TB and 3*5TB), for four years now, and none of them have crashed on me yet.

I have bought it twice, once in 2020 and once in 2023. Not because the first one broke, but because after 3 years and so many advancements in the field of technology, it continued to be the best choice/cost-quality-capacity combination.

Quiet and reliable, I highly recommend it. The only negative thing about it is that I will have to somehow mark it externally to distinguish it from the first one! (Just a joke)

Once, with the money that this 4TB hard drive costs now, you could get one with half the capacity. Also, in my personal opinion, Western Digital is a reliable brand

Small but very spacious with 5TB of storage, always securely deleted and stored in a safe place. You don't mess around with that much data haha. Overall, I'm satisfied with the price I found it for.

    Update:
The cable connecting to the hard drive probably wasn't making good contact because the computer was showing a disconnecting/connecting phenomenon on its own as if it wasn't making good contact. I tried another cable and it worked
