Description

What humanity has always sought is neither pain nor joy, but simply Life. People have strived to live intensely, fully, perfectly. When they can do this without imposing restrictions on others or suffering them themselves, and their activities bring them pleasure, then they will be more rational, healthier, more civilized, more themselves.

Joy is the test of Nature, the indication of its acceptance. When a person is happy, they are in harmony with themselves and their environment. The new Individualism, in whose service Socialism, whether it wants to or not, works, will be perfect harmony. It will be what the Greeks sought but could not realize except at the level of Reflection, because they had and maintained slaves; it will be what the Renaissance sought but could not fully achieve except in Art, because it had slaves who died of hunger. It will be complete, and thanks to it, every person will reach their perfection. The new Individualism is the new Hellenism.

In his book The Soul of Man under Socialism, the genius Wilde manages with vivid stylistic flair and clarity of mind to skillfully handle the complexity of the issue, composing a text that is essayistic, radical, and simultaneously timeless. By presenting a set of arguments and critical approaches, he once again engages in fierce confrontation with every notion of conventionality.
