The importance of an article-by-article interpretation of the Civil Code is undeniable, especially given the needs of modern legal practice for quick access to legal information. To meet this need, the Concise Interpretation of the Civil Code (CICC), directed and supervised by Professor Apostolos S. Georgiadis, aims to provide an answer. The goal is achieved in a unique way, balancing between the model of a comprehensive encyclopedia, in which the tendency is to include 'almost everything,' and that of a small manual, which is limited to the 'most general and fundamental' concepts. Situated between these two solutions, the CICC consists of a two-volume, thorough, and comprehensive analysis of the Civil Code, authored by a team of collaborators and by the director-supervisor of the work himself.
This effort initially bore fruit with the publication of the first volume of the work, which includes an Introduction to Civil Law and the Civil Code, as well as the interpretation of Articles 1-946 of the Civil Code ('General Principles', 'Obligations Law'). This effort is now completed with the publication of the second volume, which covers the interpretation of Articles 947-2035 of the Civil Code ('Property Law', 'Family Law', 'Inheritance Law').
In this way, lawyers, judges, and researchers gain reliable legal and theoretical insight into the entire Civil Code.
