Description

Description

Featuring revolutionary acoustic design, tightly controlled frequency response, smooth off-axis response, and very low self-noise (just 10dBA), the NTG5 sounds spectacular in a wide variety of applications, particularly in location recording and filmmaking scenarios where exceptional sound is imperative.

Revolutionary Acoustic Design

The NTG5 features a revolutionary acoustic design unlike any other Shotgun microphone. Circular acoustic perforations are used instead of linear slots, providing greater acoustic transparency and a natural, uncolored sound for exceptional performance in a wide variety of recording applications.

A Boom Operator’s Dream

The NTG5 features a short, ultra-lightweight aluminum body (just 76 grams!), making it one of the most compact professional Shotgun microphones available – a dream for operators on long shoots or for filmmakers and sound recordists seeking a more portable and lightweight rig that delivers impressive high-quality sound.

The perfect location recording microphone

With strictly controlled frequency response, low self-noise, highly directional supercardioid polar pattern, and smooth off-axis response, the NTG5 sounds spectacular in a wide variety of applications. It also features RF-bias technology and uniform coating on the electronics, which protect the microphone from moisture and humidity and ensure that it is incredibly reliable even in challenging environmental conditions. The NTG5 is the perfect microphone for location recording and demanding film-making scenarios where exceptional sound is imperative.

It is a particularly high-quality microphone for its price, but it presented a serious problem during recordings. There is a fluctuation in the signal at high frequencies, sometimes with a constant tone and in other cases the "interference" signal changes frequency, like an oscillator shaped by another frequency. I don't know if it is interference or a problem with the microphone. It is also not just one frequency, it has harmonics as well. Search for the following on YouTube to hear the problem: "RODE NTG5 Completely Unusable, Major Quality Control Issue With Constant RF Interference." If you don't experience it, it is a good, very good microphone.
