Of Latin origin, the word Acta means the deeds, the events, the actions, in short, the things.
Actuarius was the shorthand writer, the scribe, the annotator through whom "the power of the deeds was known". In the Byzantine era, the meaning of these two administrative terms of the Roman Empire changes, with Actuarius becoming a title for a civil servant "specifically in the management of the army," while Acta are referred to as synonyms of euphemisms or praises found in the De Ceremoniis of Constantine Porphyrogenitus.
