Asking who or what the expected Godot is makes no sense. Godot is nothing more than the name of the event that the aimless continuation of life misinterprets its presence as "waiting," or "waiting for something." The positive attitude of the two characters, Estragon and Vladimir, ultimately represents a double denial: it is the inability to recognize their meaningless position. Indeed, this interpretation is confirmed by the words of the author himself, who said that he is not so much interested in Godot, but in "Waiting."
With a commentary by Günther Anders on the parabolic nature of the work.
