Like all symbols in Masonic rituals, colors have been selected with a purpose and are not arbitrarily chosen.
Traditional and psychological symbolism was used for their selection, and it is evident that they were influenced by Rosicrucian-alchemical motives.
While blue is the dominant color in Symbolic Lodges, red, black, and white (the alchemical colors) are the cornerstones of color symbolism in the Ancient Accepted Rite, along with green, the color of life and rebirth, and gold (yellow), which symbolizes light, the sun, and similar concepts.
By understanding colors, every Mason will gain a richer perception of the rituals and will be able to interpret them in the best and most accurate way possible.
