The 18th Plenary of the Central Committee (June 24 - July 2, 1973) was a party body of particular importance for assessing the situation in Greece during this specific period, as beyond the evaluation of the actions of the anti-dictatorship struggle, the concerns and direction regarding the necessity of transferring the Party's leadership internally become apparent.
The experience and critical conclusions from the Party's strenuous efforts to address the needs of illegal work in Greece, the repeated arrests of its officials and members, but mainly, the primary mission of finalizing the Positions of the Central Committee, the Draft Program and Statute for the 9th Congress, which was convened almost 7 years after the 12th Plenary of 1968 and 12 years after the 8th Congress (1961) are highlighted.
