The genuine screen of my mobile phone broke after several falls. However, despite the cracks, it lasted for over a year. I mean, besides the cracks, there was a normal image behind them. One day, the cracked part suddenly turned black and I had to replace it with one like these above.
The replacement was done with an OEM product, at a technology store, which the store purchased and charged me according to the lowest price on Skroutz. Perfect, right?
Today, 3 months after the replacement, the new screen cracked below the front camera, almost 3 centimeters, with a drop from a relatively low height (80cm) at an angle on a thin carpet. However, it has also disappeared the pixels behind it. It has turned black throughout its length and on both sides of the crack with the first fall.
It cost me a total of 60€ for the previous replacement and I already regret not using the genuine spare part.
Now I'm thinking that maybe it's worth changing my phone after 2.5 years and giving this one to my son to throw against the walls.
And to anticipate any thoughts, I'm not an electronics engineer but a mechanical engineer. I examined the phone I received and the replacement was done carefully, the new screen was properly glued.
I believe that the cracking is due to insufficient hardness of the screen they installed. Of course, I don't know if it was one of the above, but judging by its performance in these few months, I would say that it had a very good touch response and good color rendering. These facts indicate that we are not talking about a product outside of stores.
In conclusion, I will not recommend to any potential buyer whether to get these spare parts or not. However, I will recommend them to check the written hardness that they claim to have, as much as they say. And then decide if it's worth buying such a spare part.
