It really does what it says. It is an active adaptor from VGA to DVI-D, so it will also work with older VGA monitors. I mention this because at first I bought a passive adaptor and it didn't give a signal to my old VGA monitor, and with a little research I discovered that I needed an active adaptor. With a good cable, in my case from the UGREEN company, I can say that my old VGA monitor has come back to life.

I bought it on sale and it worked perfectly from the moment I plugged it in to connect a decade-old VGA monitor to my Aorus B450 M motherboard, which does not support DVI-D to D-sub conversion. That's why the use of an active converter like this one was necessary.
