Description

Description

This manual includes, in an improved and expanded form, the Notes for the Teaching of Compulsory Harmony that I have been providing to my students in the form of photocopied manuscripts for many years.

These notes have been widely circulated outside the framework of the Athens Conservatory, and I have often been encouraged to proceed with a more systematic publication of them.

Since I believed and still believe that the release of another Harmony book would have nothing new to offer in our time, knowing that existing manuals are intended, with very few exceptions, for the teaching of special harmony, I preferred to gather in this work what is necessary for the lesson of Compulsory Harmony.

To the extent that: a) it provides the student - performer of music with the terminology and basic knowledge he will need to meet the demands of the course in Music Form and the needs of harmonic analysis of the works he is going to perform, but also: b) it prepares the student - theorist by giving him a first, as good as possible acquaintance with the material he will need for the continuation of his studies in Special and generally in Higher Theoretical subjects.
