It definitely needs to be changed within 3 months, which will also be evident from its color turning brown. If it is changed on time, particles do not pass into the water circuit. For the black particles that some people mention, it is because the filter's activity has expired and it needs to be replaced. Do not leave it in operation for longer than necessary, it is logical.
