The Novation Launchpad Pro MK3 MIDI controller controls clips, scenes, the mixer, devices and transport in Ableton Live, while Capture MIDI records musical ideas. Its 64 RGB pads are pressure- and velocity-sensitive for dynamic performance and instant visual feedback on clips and the drum rack.

The built-in four-track, 32-step sequencer supports eight-note polyphony, pattern chains and scenes, as well as probability and mutation controls. Note and Scale modes make it easier to play and create basslines, melodies and chords. The MIDI output lets you sync with synthesizers, while Custom Modes send MIDI commands to compatible hardware and software, with or without a computer.

    Very beautiful and smooth keys for finger drumming. Very good slim sturdy construction, with so many features that you naturally need the manual to learn them.

    Of course, it does a lot more with Ableton Live, and for finger drumming it may not be the first choice because it is relatively small compared to an 8x8 pad.

    What matters, however, is that they are sensitive and smooth - among the best I have tried.
