This monograph does not attempt to present the entire period of the Operations from August 19, 1948, to the end of 1948 in the Vitsi area, as well as the numerous battles fought in this area between the Democratic Army of Greece (DSE) and the 'National' or 'Government Army of Athens'.

The primary and central question regarding the operations in Vitsi, particularly during the period from September 10 to 20, 1948, is the fact that during these days were fought the most critical battles, in terms of Strategic Scale, of the Civil War. This created conditions and opportunities for the DSE to potentially reverse the overall situation on a large scale, with all the consequences—military, political, international-diplomatic—that, however, objectively could not and did not manage to exploit or capitalize on.
