Mud seems to be a trivial topic for research. Yesterday, I received a letter from Fasyanos. He emphasizes to me: I prefer to write more about nostalgic and neglected situations, through the small lives of people.
I tend to believe that the Small Life defines Historical Trajectory just as much as the Great Battles. Within the neglected situations and insignificant objects truly lurks nostalgia. Perhaps nostalgia sparks the so-called inspiration of artists.
For the folklorist, nostalgia is a great danger. The folklorist has no right to be nostalgic just as he has no right to judge. The finest folklorist is nothing but a photographer. That's why I detest Lévi-Strauss.
