After the release of my first book, EPIRUS CHURCHES AND MONASTERIES, I decided to continue my tours in Epirus, in order to document as many ecclesiastical monuments as I could.
Some belong to the Byzantine era and most to the time of Ottoman rule. These are divided by region, and I believe they provide at least a small glimpse of our cultural heritage.
I believe that this book contains a variety and richness, as some monuments are significant and grand while others are humble and obscure. Most bear the mark of anonymous creation.
In most churches, we see the names of the painters, donors, abbots, etc., and nowhere is the name of the builder inscribed. Thus, this book covers a part of this anonymous creation in Epirus and is a minimal tribute to all those folk architects, stone masons, and craftsmen who contributed to the creation of Greek folk architecture.
