Description & Specifications

The sources of written and oral history about Pontus are inexhaustible. It is undisputed that its issues throughout the Greek world today are interconnected with matters concerning the communities of "homelands" outside Greece, which include Pontus.

The first generation, which served as the bearer of the Greek spirit and culture of the East, acted as the connecting link between two societies, those of Pontus and Greece, as well as the factor of peaceful coexistence among many ethnicities through culture - wherever it was transmitted - is no longer represented. But also, the second generation, which, true to its roots, operated and still occasionally continues to operate as a transmitter of knowledge and information through the immediacy of its childhood experiences and memories, is approaching the end of its biological cycle.

Within such a climate of need for self-awareness, for the preservation of identity—therefore of memory—this need is observed across all continents, aligned with the climate of globalization—protecting and promoting the conditions for coexistence and living together within the chaotic global environment that is shaped based on new principles of social ideology and ethics, Pontus, initially a culturally diffuse place, has begun to lean towards myth and legend.

This was also aided by the fact that over time, although geographically close to Greece, this area is considered increasingly distant—not so much due to biological evolution but due to social and cultural transformation.
