What’s important, though, is to pay attention to exactly what I need. This one is 6.35mm male → 3.5mm female. In other words, it accepts headphones with 3.5mm and connects them to a 6.35mm port. If I need the opposite, I want a different adapter. And of course it doesn’t convert any signal into something else, nor does it make a device compatible with a guitar, microphone, or other input on its own; it simply adapts the connection. There is even a relevant user review that points out exactly this misunderstanding.

For the money, it’s one of those small things that’s good to have in the drawer. It doesn’t change the sound or do magic — it just saves me from the “great… now what?” when the wrong jack shows up in front of me
