During World War I, in the Pacific Ocean, the warlike Rasputin saves Pandora and Cain Grovesnor, cousins of a wealthy family, and their adventurous and loyal friend, Corto Maltese! He keeps the children captive because he is about to meet the mysterious masked "Monk", who represents all the pirates in the area, as well as Corto, who despite his reactionary character, can help him.
