I have had it for three years exposed outdoors and it has neither rusted nor has its color faded. Recently, when I tried it, it lights and burns just fine. It should be noted that, although it is a 'storm' lamp, these lamps are actually affected by strong wind and require an (elusive) additional cover so that they do not go out in strong gusts.
