What is a pop-up tent?

The pop-up tent is designed to open and close easily and quickly, without the need for supports. It usually has a lightweight frame, connected with elastic cords or another mechanism that allows it to open automatically when taken out of its packaging.

Tents of this type are easy to use and do not require specialized knowledge or experience to set up. They set up on their own effortlessly in just a few seconds and are ideal for beginners, as well as for those who do not want to spend time setting up the tent.

The downsides of these tents are that they do not have good wind resistance and take up quite a bit of space when folded.

  • Frame: Fiberglass

Fiberglass frame

The frame made of fiberglass is a common choice for the construction of camping tents. It is a lightweight and durable material, made from fiberglass fibers that are usually coated with polyester to protect them from water and moisture.

Fiberglass is flexible, allowing the frame to be lightweight and bendable to support the tent fabric.

What does the waterproof rating on camping tents indicate?

The waterproofing of a tent indicates how much water the outer fabric can repel. It is measured in millimeters (mm) and refers to how many millimeters of vertical water column (and thus pressure) a square centimeter of fabric can withstand without being penetrated by water.

The higher the degree of waterproofing, the less breathable the fabric is, and thus the warmer the tent. Widely used waterproofing values range from 500mm to 10000mm. Theoretically, any fabric with waterproofing >1000mm is considered waterproof. For example, a summer tent may have waterproofing from 500 to 1500mm.

What does the feature Polyester 190T mean?

It is an indicator for comparing the durability of two fabrics made from the same material

T means Thread which is fiber, and the number reveals the sum of the vertical and horizontal fibers in a square inch of fabric (see photo). The larger the Thread, the denser the weave and the greater the durability of the fabric.

    • Stay away. It is the most useless thing I have bought, made with very poor quality materials. The seams where they hold and hug the rods opened on the first use. And when I say first use, it was in my living room on the marble floor. I don't want to imagine how difficult it would be to close it in an environment with a lot of wind. I suggest you buy something of better quality for a little more money.

Although it is a large tent but low, it has good quality materials and good seams. I tried to put a 180 width mattress and it didn't fit. So don't be fooled by what it says 4 people unless they sleep on top of each other. In summary, I believe the maximum width size is 150, so it does not make it a tent for 4 people. For two adults with a small child at most.

I had a tent for years that cost 15 euros and it didn't have any issues. This one ripped on the first camping trip. Obviously, the quality of the materials is mediocre. It is definitely funny to set it up and it takes some time to learn how to pack it up, but for 77€ to rip on the first camping trip is unacceptable!! Also, the packaging of the tent is huge. Just to give you an idea, it doesn't fit in the trunk (Volkswagen Polo) or in a closet.

It has a small entrance, if you put a double inflatable mattress, which you have to inflate inside, you can't fit luggage.

The materials are very good...better for winter than for summer because it doesn't ventilate well...easy to set up, as soon as you unbutton the case and throw it down, it stands on its own...that's the most positive thing...the negative thing, however, is that if you make a wrong move, you have broken the pole...that's what happened to us and that's where everything starts breaking...there is a video on YouTube on how to pack it up, DO NOT let someone inexperienced try it. That's what I did and it annoyed me...this year was the second time I used it and it has broken in 3 places...and it cuts like crazy...be careful...I think I'll be able to use it one more time and then throw it away...if you are careful and don't break it, it's the perfect tent...and you don't waste any time.

Overall, I am very satisfied with the easy setup, it truly is a pop-up. All you have to do is put in the pegs and secure it if there is wind in the area. The construction material is okay, I didn't have any issues. It's good that it has 2 windows, but it's strange and (-) that they only open and close from the outside. Lastly, I use an inflatable mattress and in this case, a double one doesn't fit. Without a mattress, it would fit tightly (with minimal space for things) for 3 people. Also, for packing it up, if you watch a video on the internet and do it once, it's simple and quick.

Unfortunately, the tent is indeed easy to set up and take down, like any pop-up tent, but it is of very poor quality construction. It was used only twice for an overnight stay each time, and while it was packed in its packaging, the frame (the inner pole) broke and it went to waste. I want to emphasize that I am a very experienced camper, I camp all year round, even in the winter, and every summer I set up my tent for more than two months continuously. I have used dozens of tents, including several pop-ups. There is no way I made any handling mistakes in its use, packing, or opening. If you absolutely want a large pop-up tent, choose another one, possibly more expensive, but from a reputable manufacturer.

First time buying a tent and camping. The experience was very pleasant.
By watching 2 videos on youtube, you understand directly what you need to do for setting up/taking down. Especially for the 4-person tent, I would recommend having two people gather it because it is quite tall when you turn it vertically.
We were 2 people (1.92m and 1.78m) and a 35kg dog, with some few things inside the tent, and we slept quite comfortably.
Unfortunately, the pegs that come in the package do nothing, and if there is wind, you definitely need to tie it down, so it might be better to get them from somewhere else.

      Update 11/7/2023:
The tent is still holding up and has served us well, but the bottom poles have bent on both sides (not at the points where we can put pegs to secure it) and it has made it difficult for us. I have seen the same tent at the camping site we are at, a little further down, with the exact same problem.

It opens very quickly since it is pop up. We had an issue closing it, but after 3-4 attempts, we managed to close it in 20 seconds. There is a relevant video on the internet. It is cool under the sun at the beach and withstands the wind. It has both windows and a door with a mosquito net, so no mosquitoes can get in. It also has zippers on the inside and outside for convenience. I recommend it to families with small children. We are 6 and fit comfortably. It is perfect for camping. No hassle at all. It is worth its money.

      • Although it is a large tent but low, it has good quality materials and good seams. I tried to put a 180 width mattress and it didn't fit. So don't be fooled by what it says 4 people unless they sleep on top of each other. In summary, I believe the maximum width size is 150, so it does not make it a tent for 4 people. For two adults with a small child at most.

      • I had a tent for years that cost 15 euros and it didn't have any issues.

      • It has a small entrance, if you put a double inflatable mattress, which you have to inflate inside, you can't fit luggage.

      • The materials are very good...better for winter than for summer because it doesn't ventilate well...easy to set up, as soon as you unbutton the case and throw it down, it stands on its own...that's the most positive thing...the negative thing, however, is that if you make a wrong move, you have broken the pole...that's what happened to us and that's where everything starts breaking...there is a video on YouTube on how to pack it up, DO NOT let someone inexperienced try it. That's what I did and it annoyed me...this year was the second time I used it and it has broken in 3 places...and it cuts like crazy...be careful...I think I'll be able to use it one more time and then throw it away...if you are careful and don't break it, it's the perfect tent...and you don't waste any time.
