Description

Although throughout the year the Earth orbits around the Sun, we do not feel this movement, even though every day the Earth is in a different position from where it was the day before.

Thus, from each new position, we see the Sun from a different angle as it moves daily from west to east. This is also why we see different constellations in different seasons.

The most popular and esteemed popularizer of astronomy in Greece guides us through the Greek sky by season, explaining and analyzing which constellations are visible depending on each season, how each month of the year got its name, and introducing us to basic concepts of astronomy.

The edition includes rich photographic material.

Today, in popular tradition, our people have given March various names, mainly related to the unstable weather conditions that prevail during it. That is why it is known as "Klapsomartis" (the Crybaby March), but also as "Pentagnomos" (the Five-Knower): "March the five-knower snowed five times and then regretted not snowing again" and "March, the skinner and bad stake-burner" and "Better March in the corners than March in the courtyards." Nevertheless, March is considered the most suitable month for planting trees, and for this reason, it is also called "Fyteftis" (the Planter), while due to the celebration of the Annunciation, it is also called "Vangelotis." In any case, spring begins in March, which is why "From March comes summer, and from August comes winter."
