I liked the patent black ones so much that I got them again in patent white. These, indeed, hit my ankle much more than the black ones because their leather was stiffer, but I used transparent band-aids every time beforehand, and the problem was solved! As for those who write that they are not leather, they must have bought the vegan version, because the company produces them in leather - both in matte and patent (which I bought)! Also, I have to mention that I wear a size 39.5-40, but these in size 39 are perfect for me! P.S. If you read the reviews of this particular model on the Dr. Martens UK site, you will see that they are the most positive among all the other sandal models! (And there are A LOT, just like the number of sandals they have released so far!)

What I have to say is that the shoe I received in size 36 was a true size 36, meaning it didn't fit me, so I didn't request a return.
