The journal Law and History is dedicated to the publication of scientific articles in the field of the History of Law, covering the entire spectrum of the history of Greek and Roman law, from the archaic period to modern times.

The journal is the result of the national conference of legal historians, which has been held at the Faculty of Law of Democritus University of Thrace since 1997 and is known in the academic community as "Meetings of Legal History". This fourth volume includes presentations made during the 20th Meeting of Legal History in Komotini, on May 12 and 13, 2018.

As in previous issues, the articles published here deal with legal issues arising in the laws of classical Greek antiquity and the Hellenistic period, in Roman and Byzantine law, as well as in post-Byzantine and modern Greek law.
