Helmos oak honey is produced from honeydew secreted by insects living on oak bark. It is harvested in Kalavryta, at an altitude of 500–1,200 metres, by the Soukas family. It has a rich, full-bodied and distinctive flavour without being particularly sweet, and a dark, almost amber colour. It contains antioxidants, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron and sodium, and crystallises slowly.
