Description

The engagement of Julia Venios with the wealthy landowner Georgiki Provios was destined to become the big news of the entire plain of Larissa. After a few years, the conclusion of her marriage is sealed with the murder of her husband and their three-year-old daughter. She, having been sentenced to death, remains silent, accepting her fate and, by extension, her guilt.

Six days before her execution, young journalist Alexandra Gika tries to interview her inside the Avérrof Prison, where she is held; alongside her is lawyer Dimitris Atzalinas. The faint memories of the condemned, who seems to be awakening from her lethargy, will take them five years back, to the post-civil war era in December 1949.

Her narrative gives both of them lively suspicions that there is a "side story," a second explanation of the events whose acceptance and proof could acquit her. But the time they have left is short. Hypotheses, connections of events, associations, decisions, and a race against time to prove her innocence, while the hands of the clock have already started counting down. The events justify every shred of optimism. However, the truth has yet to reveal its final shape...

A few years later, the epilogue of her marriage is sealed with the murder of her husband and her three-year-old daughter. Six days before her execution,

The young journalist Alexandra Gika tries to interview her inside Averoff Prison, where she is being held; by her side is the lawyer Dimitros Atzalinas.

The faint memories of the condemned woman, who seems to be waking up from a lethargy, will take them back five years, to the post-civil war era in December 1949. Her narration sparks vivid suspicions in both of them that there is a "side story," a second explanation of the events that, if accepted and proven, could exonerate her. But the time they have left is limited.

Assumptions, connections of events, associations, decisions, and a race against time to prove her innocence, while the clock's hands have already started counting down. The events justify every shred of optimism.

However, the truth has not yet revealed its final form...

"The wife and child murderer Ioulia Proviou, who was unanimously sentenced to death by firing squad by the Mixed Jury Court of Larissa, remains unrepentant to this day. It is certain that, if she had the opportunity, she would commit her horrific double crime again. She is to be executed on the 21st of this month. This decision has rewarded the whole of Greece with breaths of happiness."

The author wastes pages on many details to the point where it becomes a bit tiresome. Otherwise, it is a tremendous plot that you eagerly anticipate the continuation of.
