The subject of this study is the investigation of the quantitative representation of the geographical districts of the country, the professional strata, and the educational levels of the families of students, in order to calculate the degree of inequality in access to higher education.

The ultimate goal is not simply the path to equal access and the final elimination of educational inequalities, but the journey towards a more socially and economically just political regime.

Because even if complete equality in access opportunities to university level is achievable, inequalities in wealth, power, and prestige may remain.

As has been observed elsewhere, and also in Greece, even if the children of the poor achieve the same level of education as the children of the non-poor, they do not have the same opportunities for professional rehabilitation and social advancement.
