- When the temperature is low, plasti dip® may not spray evenly because it freezes. The best thing to do is to place the spray can in warm water for 5-10 minutes or warm it up on a radiator. This will soften the internal mixture and give you the smooth result you want.
- Before painting a car or motorcycle with plasti dip®, it is recommended not to have applied any polish or wax beforehand, as this may prevent the proper application of plasti dip®.
- Never paint a car or motorcycle if it has previously been sprayed with factory paint. At least one year must pass to avoid any problems with the varnish.
- If you want to create a stripe on a surface for a straight line, you should remove the tape on the sixth “coat” (enough to get a good result) and while the plasti dip® is still wet. This is because plasti dip® has the property of re-liquefying when it falls on an already painted surface. If you remove the tape after it dries, it will ruin the straight line you have created.
- When spraying, always hold the spray can or gun perpendicular to the surface. The distance should be 10-15 cm.
- It is best to spray in a space with no wind, as the wind may carry the material and let the mist dry in spots where you don't want it to. As a result, the surface at that point will not be smooth but will have a sandpaper-like texture.
- Always clean the surface well before painting and make sure there is no moisture in any crevices.
- In periods of low temperatures, each "coat" requires more time to dry.
- You can wash your car or motorcycle about 10 days later without fear, even with a pressure washer. In the beginning you should be a bit more careful. As days go by, plasti dip® gets much stronger. We recommend applying the special Dip Protect wax about every one and a half months.
- The ratio of thick plasti dip® to thinner for spraying with a gun is 1:1. There is also pre-thinned plasti dip® spray, which has a much better composition, coverage, and durability, and can be sprayed directly.
- To spray plasti dip® properly, the spray gun should have a 1.5-2mm nozzle, the pressure should be low (1.5-2bar), it should be able to spray in a vertical open fan, and the amount should be adjustable because the first “coat” should be light to make a base (about 50% coverage). The remaining 6 "coats" should be generous.
- At least 6 good “coats” must be applied, especially on large surfaces such as a car, so you can remove it in large pieces easily when you want to.
- Never wash with active foam widely used in car washes. Only use simple soap and water.
- Be very careful with gasoline. Contact with plasti dip® can cause it to fade. It is best to inform gas station employees.
- High Gloss Top Coat: Apply 3 good “coats” for the ideal result. Allow about 30 minutes between each “coat.” Spray quickly with the gun so it doesn't run. The smoother the plasti dip® underneath, the greater the reflection of the high gloss top coat.
