The board game The Search for Planet X by Renegade Game Studios is a deduction game in which players take on the role of astronomers searching for a hypothetical planet through observations and logical reasoning. The companion app randomly selects the arrangement of celestial objects and the location of Planet X, following predetermined rules.
Each round, players use the app to conduct scans and participate in conferences, recording their findings on deduction sheets. Based on the information they gather, they publish theories and score points. When a player identifies the location of Planet X and the objects next to it, they conduct a search through the app; the game then ends, and players have one final opportunity to score additional points.
