Description

Description

The Patriot Viper 3 RAM is aimed at demanding computer users, such as gamers, professionals in video and image editing, designers, and those who require high performance from their computer.

DDR3

DDR3 is the third generation of RAM technology for computers. It replaces DDR2 and offers increased speeds and capacity.

It offers operating speeds from 800MT/s to 2133MT/s, response times (CAS Latency) from CL4 to CL19, while its capacity has increased up to 16GB per memory module.

For speed (MT/s) and capacity (GB), the larger size we choose, the better performance we will have in our system, while for response time (CL), we want the smallest size for the speed (MT/s) we have chosen.

The above characteristics should be compatible with the specifications of our motherboard.

The Patriot Viper 3 provides a speed of 1600MT/s, with CL9 and 8GB per memory module.

Compatibility

DDR3 technology is compatible with specific motherboards and processors. Indicatively, DDR3 is compatible with Intel 3rd & 4th Gen, Pentium, and Celeron processors, as well as AMD FX and Phenom II series processors.

However, for compatibility with your motherboard, you need to ensure that your motherboard supports DDR3 technology from the manufacturer. Compatibility depends on the processor platform and the type of motherboard you are using.

XMP & EXPO

XMP & EXPO is a technology that allows us to increase the frequency and performance of our computer's memory without the need for manual adjustments. (XMP/ EXPO) is easily activated from the BIOS, is available on certain RAM modules, and is supported by certain motherboards.

The Patriot Viper 3 XMP 1.3 profile with performances:

  • Speed (XMP 1.3) : 1600 MT/s
  • CAS Latency (XMP 1.3) : 9-9-9-24
  • Voltage (XMP 2.0) : 1.5V

Cooling & Design

The aluminum construction material combined with the low height of the memory, which is an ideal size to fit the large CPU coolers, helps to keep the memory and the entire computer at a fairly low temperature even during the most demanding operations.

This review is about the total capacity: 8 GB

Unfortunately, they are not compatible with the Asrock P55 Pro motherboard. I had to put them in a Gigabyte motherboard with the same socket (1156) just so I wouldn't "cry" over the 50 euros. The purchase was two packages, a total of 16 GB. It's strange that they don't work on all motherboards, the memories that remained from DDR3 on the market.

In the context of an upgrade, they work excellently. They also have an integrated cooler. They are used for office work, CAD, movies, and everyday tasks. I don't play games, so I don't know what performance they would have.

Small upgrade to an old PC with an SSD and RAM for faster web browsing and light gaming. Huge difference in responsiveness, these memories really helped elevate my PC and it actually happened. I should note that I initially had 8 GB. I don't have an opinion on technical specifications, but I saw a huge difference in combination with the SSD. I should mention that I have an Intel i5 750 2.66Hz

Very powerful upgrade from 8 gigabytes of RAM to these Patriot 16 gigabytes in an Alienware 5th generation... It performed very well in games like Call of Duty... They worked on their own at 1600 without needing to set up XMP profile, etc. through the BIOS.
