Description

Description

The rotary hammer DHR182TWJU by Makita features Anti Vibration Technology (AVT), resulting in a low vibration rate and making it easier to use for extended periods of time.

Brushless Motor

Less wear, greater performance

The advantage that brushless motors have over brushed ones is that they do not have friction since there are no carbon brushes. Without carbon brushes, the motors are more efficient and have a longer lifespan as there is no wear and tear (the carbon brushes in brushed motors wear out with use). They produce less noise, maintain their torque consistently at all speeds, do not overheat, and require no maintenance.

It is quite lightweight (not featherweight) so you can use it with one hand for small chiseling jobs. At first, I was surprised by how quiet it was, even when hammering. Of course, don't expect the power of a corded rotary hammer (I have the Bosch GBH 2-28), but I liked the precision it gives you during hammering.

Regarding consumption, I tested it with a brand new 3Ah battery and it ran out relatively quickly, so now I ordered a 5Ah one (chiseling plaster and half a brick for an electrical conduit about 3 meters long).

I deduct one star only because of the high price. I have also tried a colleague's equivalent 18v Einhell, which costs half as much, and honestly, I can't justify the price difference. I just have other Makita 18v tools and don't want to carry different batteries and chargers to work.

I've had it for almost 3 years, for drilling it's the fastest in its category (and even compared to bigger ones) by far, handy, lightweight, and effortless. For chiseling it's quite good but it needs its breaks (understandable), don't forget it's an 18-volt, every tool for its job!!!! The anti-vibration system is simply flawless and that's an understatement. Its dust collection is very good! The only negative is its design: when you want to set it down to screw something, you have to lay it on its side, not upright, and on a ladder that's a bit of an issue, otherwise you can hang it, but that's something you get used to. In conclusion, to make it clear, this tool and the impact driver (td173d) are the reason I switched back to Makita, which really outdid itself with this tool. I bought it for around €180 and now it costs €220, I think that says it all. I recommend it with my eyes closed!

Very satisfied with both the tool and its vacuum (accessory). The vacuum fills easily but also cleans easily; it doesn't go in and out of the base that easily. And as a scraper for touch-ups with a 5Ah battery, it is very good and powerful.

Polite tool with many impacts, not very powerful. Very expensive and easy to handle even with one hand. I have already removed tightly glued tiles in a small bathroom and opened countless holes in concrete.
