Description

Do you sometimes feel like you are the only one making sense in a meeting? Do long-winded answers drive you crazy, or does your colleague's argumentative manner get on your nerves? You're not alone.

Thomas Erikson explains that there are four main types of behavior that determine how we interact and perceive those around us. Understanding a person's behavior pattern is the key to successful communication.

He analyzes these four types – Reds are dominant and oppressive, Yellows are sociable and optimistic, Greens are relaxed and friendly, and Blues are analytical and precise – and explains how we can recognize each type of person and communicate with them.

The simple and practical four-color system allows you to quickly identify the color of a friend or colleague and adjust the way you talk to them and the information you share accordingly.

The author will help you better understand yourself, perfect your communication and social skills, manage conflicts confidently, improve your relationship with your boss and your team, know when to speak and when not to, and generally change the way you interact with others, from colleagues to your partner.

And with a little luck, ensure that the fool is not you!

In the book you will meet

  • The analysis of the four basic types of behavior.
  • Practical advice for better communication.
  • Understanding why people react differently in similar situations.

Why We Loved It

  • Offers a simple and understandable way to view human behavior.
  • Helps you improve your relationships, both in your personal and professional life.
  • It is written with humor and examples from everyday life that immediately set the tone.

This book is for you if…

You want to better understand the people around you, yourself, and why you react differently in various situations. It is ideal if you are looking for practical ways to improve your communication and if you have ever wondered why sometimes it seems like you cannot communicate with certain people.

I have tried to read it 2 times. While at first it grabs your attention, somewhere in the middle it becomes tiring as it repeats the same things in different words. The author continuously tells stories that are similar to each other and you quickly lose the desire to read it

The book "Surrounded by Idiots" by Thomas Erikson is an excellent read that offers unique insights into understanding human behavior and communication. With the "four-color analysis" model, Erikson categorizes personalities into four categories: Reds, Yellows, Greens, and Blues, explaining how they influence the way we interact with others. The book is filled with examples and stories that bring the theories to life, making it enjoyable and easy to read, while the practical advice is immediately applicable to everyday life and professional relationships. Overall, "Surrounded by Idiots" is an inspired and entertaining book that will change the way you see the world around you.

The best purchase I have made. Very useful book, it has covered me to a large extent on the subject it talks about. Pleasant, easy to read, and in each chapter you gain new knowledge. As soon as one finishes it, they realize that they have learned a lot of things. I have already ordered the next book by the same author!

It makes you more patient in dealing with the behavior of colleagues, friends, and relatives.

It divides people into 4 colors and essentially tells you that each color has a different way of thinking and addressing problems and tasks, explaining that this way is not wrong, no matter how different it may be from your own. As a result, instead of thinking that this person is "stupid" when they don't do something, you reach a deeper understanding of their way of thinking and functioning, and ultimately achieve better cooperation. You become more tolerant and adept at dealing with behaviors different from your own.

Furthermore, it remains considered the "astrologer" of psychology.

Quite an interesting and useful book in everyday life for understanding and managing different types of behavior. It loses 2 stars because it is overly analytical and often repetitive, resulting in being tiresome.

The reason I give 3 stars instead of 2 is because the author presents a different perspective on human behavior which partly works. This perspective of yellow, red, green, and blue puts you directly in the mood of the book and helps analyze each character separately. Unfortunately, after the interpretation of the behavior analysis model, some humorous remarks and the light atmosphere that the book creates, the positives end here... along the way, the author strictly follows this model with minimal flexibility and the possible existence of other "colors" or categories of people, and unfortunately, there are many times when it is repeated. Finally, another reason why my rating is relatively low is that the book has a relatively childish tone and follows the beaten path of self-help books with subheadings about body language, categorizations, and "do this if you see this person in order to achieve that".

It is a book that its title somewhat misunderstands. I really liked it and I will definitely read it again at some point. It explains how there are no "stupid" people, but different perspectives, thoughts, and ways of functioning. Reading it, I found 3 colors in my character, and familiar ones in others or even mixed. As you read it, you stop and say... yes, he is right, that's why he acts like that... it is OBVIOUS. Just to be able to understand it, you have to withstand criticism. I am looking forward to them translating his other books into Greek

Personally, I found it shallow and absolute. It puts people in boxes in a quite rigid way, without delving into any type. Only superficial few words about each one. Also, the writing style seemed boring and childish to me, as if I was reading a magazine(;) written by a beginner. The time we have to read books is not infinite, so whatever we choose should be worth it.

Very interesting book and definitely many of the things it analyzes, although I had thought about them at some point in the past, I never made the connection. It would definitely have helped me a lot if I had read it before joining the army, but I find applications of the methods it analyzes in my everyday life. 4/5 because it exaggerates, repeats itself, and gives too many examples that sometimes become tiresome.. I definitely recommend it.

The title alone from the cover won me over without even reading the summary. For a beginner who never reads books, I would say the only negative is that it has a lot of blah blah and it drags on. But other than that, it includes in detail the 4 types of behaviors, how to distinguish them, and how to manage them. I recommend it.

Excellent analysis of the 4 most distinct different ways of behavior. It is not a psychology book, but an analysis of human behavior in order to understand those around us and operate accordingly (you could call it a manifesto of handling, but okay, we overcome it and do our job).

It does not have unnecessary pages, I started underlining sentences and ended up just underlining the page number.

I definitely need to read it again.

If you are trying to understand those around you on a professional, but not only, level, if you have aspirations for advancement in your career in positions that manage people, definitely get it.

I saw many people recommending it, so I decided to buy it and it was worth it in the end. You read it pleasantly and you see many commonalities with people you interact with daily!

It gives us a different perspective on the people around us. It helps us recognize their characteristics. Particularly useful for professional interactions.

A book that everyone should read. It is a pleasant read. As for the negatives, I would say the unnecessary last chapters for me. In the same wavelength, I recommend the excellent book "Personality Plus" by Florence Littauer. I recommend both as gifts. Happy reading!

It mentions astrology as a means of understanding people. I don't think anything else is needed.

  • I have tried to read it 2 times. While at first it grabs your attention, somewhere in the middle it becomes tiring as it repeats the same things in different words. The author continuously tells stories that are similar to each other and you quickly lose the desire to read it

  • The book "Surrounded by Idiots" by Thomas Erikson is an excellent read that offers unique insights into understanding human behavior and communication.
