Shenmue III is not a bad game, but it definitely does not rank among the top 100 of all time. I don't know how popular it is at the moment, but the previous two chapters were groundbreaking for gaming. The problem is that the last Shenmue game was released 20 years ago on the Dreamcast, and obviously a large portion of the original audience no longer exists. This is why SEGA chose not to fund this specific title, and the studio and creator sought financial support from loyal fans in order to create this game. I mention all of this because 1) unfortunately, the lack of funding is evident in this title, and 2) the creative direction followed was based on the fans. The graphics may have been impressive for the PS3 era, but by today's standards, they are mediocre at best. There is a huge issue with the character faces, as most of them look terrible. The sound is good, but the lip sync is horrendous. Overall, the voices of almost all the characters are exaggerated and sound like bad actors. The combat system was innovative in the late 90s and early 2000s, but it is now outdated. The Yakuza series is far superior. The explanation for all of this is that because the studio did not have a huge budget (or the technology) to create something more modern, they chose to stay as faithful as possible to the first two games, hoping to satisfy those who supported the game. This is the biggest issue because gaming has evolved significantly over the years. Nonetheless, I expected something better in terms of the story. The second game in the series ended abruptly, leaving behind huge questions and expectations, and 20 years later, this game behaves as if everything happened just recently. Overall, the game has enough hours to keep you occupied, around 30-40 hours depending on your playstyle, and it can exceed that number. Shenmue games have always directed players to engage in activities unrelated to the plot, such as fishing, karate, minigames, etc. If you haven't played any of the Shenmue games, I recommend getting the bundle with the first two, which is priced below 20 euros, and if they convince you, then give this one a chance as it is a continuation of the series. If you are a fan of the previous games, it will most likely satisfy you. If you didn't enjoy the previous games, there is no reason to bother with this title. Starting directly with this game is not a good choice, as a large part of the story and flow is directly connected to the previous games.
