The book aims to present the main points of public employment law. The dominant artery of employment law is Law N 2190/1994. The work analyzes theoretically, jurisprudentially (with rich case law from the Supreme Administrative Court and Administrative Courts of Appeal) and in continuous contact with the decisions of the Supreme Council for Civil Personnel Selection (Major Plenary, Minor Plenary, and Departments) Law N 2190/1994, as amended and in force (specifically articles 1-24 and 28 in combination with the Operating Regulation of the Supreme Council for Civil Personnel Selection, the Ministerial Decision on filling positions in the public sector, and the Qualification Profile).
The article-by-article analysis, which constitutes the main body of the book, is preceded by an introduction to employment law by the Editor, with an emphasis on constitutional provisions (Constitutional Law of employment in the public sector) and the basic characteristics of the institutional personality and functioning of the Supreme Council for Civil Personnel Selection (independence, legality, objectivity-meritocracy).
The work fills a gap in Greek literature, as it is the first systematic presentation of employment law in the public sector. The book has practical significance on the one hand. It is addressed to lawyers, judges, members and staff of the Supreme Council for Civil Personnel Selection, public servants in general, and candidates in competitions of the Supreme Council for Civil Personnel Selection.
At the same time, it has educational usefulness. It is addressed to law students, political science students, public administration students, business administration students, undergraduate and postgraduate students, students and prospective students of the National School of Judges and the National School of Public Administration, trainee public officials and employees, as well as to professors and researchers of Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, Public Administration, Judicial Law, and Independent Authorities.
