Friendship can be built, but only on the condition that people are virtuous, are not dominated by great passions, have a sense of equality and justice, and never demand anything dishonorable or immoral from one another.

One must be devoted to the other; there must be mutual appreciation and mutual respect. Whoever removes respect from friendship strips it of its greatest adornment.
