The assessment of a student's school performance is undoubtedly one of the most significant problems faced by all those involved in the educational process, as they constantly seek new methods to evaluate students objectively and fairly - as fairly as possible.
Very often, this is discussed, even by the mass media, because the examination system in our country, specifically the grading, keeps educators, students, and parents in anxiety. Efforts to find a system free from weaknesses and shortcomings have been made and continue to be made, but such a system has yet to be found.
Most educators at all school levels perform their duties based on what they know and have learned from their daily experience, as there has not yet been systematic information provided to educators regarding the types, methods, and means of assessment.
The questioning of traditional assessment methods at the turn of the year 2000 is evident, and recently there have been some efforts to inform educators, either through seminars or conferences, about the introduction of modern assessment methods - in contrast to traditional ones - into our country's educational system.
In this work, I aim to help students - and not only - to be theoretically and practically trained in the preparation of assessment tests. To this end, I provide examples from the school textbooks of the Elementary School, most of which have been used by students of the Pedagogical Department of Primary Education at the University of Thrace, within the framework of our course 'Microteaching Exercises'.
I hope that this effort will contribute to some extent to achieving our goal.
