Kerenyi was born in 1897 in Hungary and died in 1973 in Switzerland, where he had lived since 1943. He wrote most of his works in German. However, there are interesting studies that are unknown in the West.

Kerenyi's work on antiquity is significant not only in the Western but also in the global context. This work was not the effort of a philologist of letters and types, but the work of an excellent master craftsman, who experienced and passionately expressed the spirit of ancient texts.
