This volume is the third collection of short stories published by G. Vantalis.
To immerse readers in the unique style and writing approach of the short story author, I would recommend not reading the works as they are presented in this volume. I would prefer that they be read in a non-sequential order. The reader should move from the more digestible stories to the more complex ones, those that are most unusual for a Western European.
Here is a random order I would suggest: "Trikala, summer of 1943", "Excuse me! Do you have a restroom?", "Abbot Peters van der Hibuis", "Words of the dogfish in the year 1946", "I reject Satan?", "Warriors abroad", "The renegade Athanasios Mellios", "The only two happy Europeans", "God gives friends. The devil gives relatives."
In this way, I hope to introduce the reader more smoothly to the distinctive style of the author, the unorthodox way of conceiving themes, and the peculiar methodology of developing these themes.
I also advise those who are bored with learning historical facts and generally increasing their knowledge to skip the stories "The year one thousand one hundred and tenth (1,110) since the establishment of the Olympic Games", "Castalia is in session", "Roman senatorial patrician in Athens", and "Confession".
